Privacy policy

Essentially nothing. You can use every tool on this site without creating an account, so we never ask for — or hold — your name, email address, password, or payment details. There is no user database, because there are no users to put in one.

The conversion pipeline is live. A link you paste travels to our servers only long enough to locate and prepare the file. It is processed in memory, returned to you, and discarded — never written to a profile, because no profile exists to write it to.

Two things happen off our servers, and you should know about both. Resolving a link is performed for us by a third-party video-processing provider, so the video URL you paste is sent to that provider. The finished file is then served to you directly from that provider’s content delivery network, which means your browser connects to them and they can see your IP address and browser user agent for the duration of the download. We do not send them your name or email, because we never had either.

We do run Google Analytics — counts like how many pages loaded today and which format is most popular. Those measurements are about traffic, not about you personally: there is no account to attach them to. The cookie it sets and the data Google receives are described in the two sections below.

We use Google Analytics to count visits, so this site does set cookies. Google Analytics writes two first-party cookies — _ga and one beginning _ga_ — which distinguish one browser from another so a returning visitor isn’t counted twice. They last up to about thirteen months and contain a random identifier, not your name or anything you typed.

That is the only cookie on the site. There is no advertising cookie, no cross-site tracking pixel, and no fingerprinting script. We do not run ads, and we do not sell or share what Analytics reports.

If you would rather not be counted, any of these work: a browser set to block cookies, a tracker-blocking extension, Global Privacy Control, or Google’s own opt-out add-on. Blocking it changes nothing about how the downloader works.

The one thing that may live in your browser is a small localStorage entry remembering an interface preference. That value stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

We don’t sell or rent data to advertisers or data brokers. The site carries no ad networks, no social media widgets, and no third-party embeds beyond the one named next.

Google Analytics. Page views, rough location derived from your IP address, and general device and browser information are sent to Google, who process it as our analytics provider. Google receives your IP address to work out approximate location and then discards it; we never see it, and the reports we look at are counts and charts, not individuals. Google’s handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy. We use it to learn which pages and formats people actually want — nothing more.

Like nearly every website, NoTube is served by a hosting provider whose infrastructure keeps standard security logs — IP address, user agent, and request time — for a short operational window. Those logs exist to detect abuse and outages, not to profile visitors, and we never combine them with anything else. There is nothing to combine them with.

We keep nothing on disk about you: no database, no profile, no download history. Converted files are streamed to you and discarded — not stored, and not cached against any identity.

Two short-lived things do sit in the server’s memory, and calling that “nothing” would be overstating it. When a video is resolved, the result is held for about ninety seconds so that several people asking for the same video don’t each cost a fresh lookup — it is keyed to the video, not to you. Separately, a download job’s progress is tracked in memory until the file is ready or the job times out. Both vanish on their own, and neither survives a server restart. The hosting logs described above rotate automatically on our provider’s standard schedule, measured in days, not months.

Under laws like the GDPR and the CCPA you have the right to access, correct, delete, and export the personal data a service holds about you. We hold no account data at all, so most such requests resolve to the same answer — we have nothing on file under your name, because we never learned it. The one exception is the analytics measurement described above, which is tied to a random cookie identifier rather than to you; clearing that cookie ends it. Email us and we will confirm any of this in writing.

NoTube is not directed at children under 13, and since we collect personal data from no one, that includes them.

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date at the top changes with it. For anything material — a new third party, or a new kind of measurement — we will add a plain-language note at the top rather than burying the change in reworded paragraphs. What we won’t do is quietly expand what we collect and hope nobody re-reads the fine print.
